When you desire a job as dealer in a Las Vegas casino hotels, it’s not like other jobs where you can walk in, ask for an application, have an interview and maybe get hired. People who want to be a casino dealer must complete a course at a Dealer’s school before you can even apply for this type of position. There are several Las Vegas Dealer schools to choose from. If you’re lucky, the casino you want to work for will offer this training to you. The course isn’t very long, usually around six weeks, if not less.

Now some dealer schools will offer employment placement support and tips to prepare you for gaming industry interviews. If the dealer school you choose does this, make sure to take them up on their assistance.

Three Types Of Dealer Jobs Available

There are at least three types of dealer jobs you may be interested in trying. They are:

- Craps Dealer

- Poker Dealer

- Blackjack Dealer

A Look At Craps Dealer Jobs

If you’re looking to be a dealer, you may consider being a craps dealer. The craps table will need four people to make it work, as it should.

- First, there’s the box attendant; he/she is responsible for watching and supervising the game’s progress. He/she is responsible for the validity of a dice roll.

- Second, there’s the stick; this is the person who will push the dice toward the player before all rolls.

- Third, you have the craps dealers who stand at the end of the table and handle the cash and chips. They collect from the losers and pay out to the winners.

If you want to be successful, you must have the ability to think on your feet. This game is very fast-paced and a clear head is needed to keep up with the game’s action.

A Look At Poker Dealer Jobs

If you find that being a craps dealer isn’t really for you, then you may want to look at becoming a poker dealer. You’ll still need to take a course to get the must-have skills to be considered for employment at a casino. Make sure the course you choose to take covers the follow points:

- Card handling

- Control of table

- Game rules

- Methods of card dealing

- Player interaction

A Look At Blackjack Dealer Jobs

If you’re looking for work as a blackjack dealer, you must go through a special course before you get hired. This course will need to cover certain topics such as:

- Game rules

- How to deal from a single or double deck

- Shuffle machines (this equipment is used in casinos)

- Card cutting

- How to lie cards out properly

- Paying out winners

- Game control (you will need to stay in control of the game as part of your job requirement)

Bear in mind that your first job once you’ve completed the training will likely be at the smaller casinos. Most well-established and big name casinos will hire experienced personnel and dealers so you’ll need to get some experience under your belt. Remember that much of your income is going to come in the form of tips.

So long as you’re an outgoing, sociable person who doesn’t mind seeing people enjoy themselves, being a Las Vegas craps, poker and blackjack dealer could be the career choice for you. Regardless, if you do this job for the short-term or make it a lifelong career, you can make the entire experience very memorable.
